308 RACING CUP Round #5/6, Barcelona (Spain) | 29 & 30 September 2018

For the 2nd time this season, the 308 RACING CUP will step beyond the French borders. The international circuit of Barcelona-Catalunya (Spain) will host the 5th round of the championship in support of the Blancpain Endurance Series GT European Championship on September 29-30. 19 cars will make the trip to the Spanish circuit. Teddy Clairet remains the man to beat despite a revived battle at the last round at Magny-Cours after the 2 victories of the defending champion, Julien Briché. Even though it will only be mathematically possible to seal it during the final round at Paul Ricard, this fifth event of the season on the Catalan circuit will be decisive for the 2018 title race.

  • The very fast circuit of Barcelona will allow the PEUGEOT 308 Racing Cup to showcase all its skills and qualities in the hands of seasoned drivers in the promotional formula. The 308 Racing Cup is taking to the stage at the Catalan circuit for the 1st time. Although some competitors already know the Spanish track, the majority of the competitors will be discovering a brand new circuit.

  • Current leader of the 308 Racing Cup championship, Teddy Clairet (#20 - Pussier Automobiles by Clairet Sport) has dominated since the start of the season in the junior (under 25) category.
  • The defending champion, Julien Briché (#4 - JSB Compétition), took big points in the Nièvre with 44 points (2 poles, 2 fastest laps and 2 wins). The contest is revived and 13 small points separate them.
  • The juniors will have to contend this weekend with the promising female driver Lilou Wadoux (# 99 - JSB Competition) - currently 3rd in the General Classification of the 208 Racing Cup in Rencontres Peugeot Sport - making her 1st participation in the 308 Racing Cup.
  • In the junior classification, Amaury Richard (#23 - GPA Racing) can still mathematically claim the title even though Teddy Clairet has already got a serious claim to the final victory. Florian Briché (# 24 - JSB Competition), will also be closely watched, he who finished at the foot of the overall podium in the in Dijon and Magny-Cours.
  • The battle is also rising in the Gentleman category. Stéphane Ventaja (#81 - Pussier Automobiles by Clairet Sport) and Laurent Richard (#17 - Gpa Racing), are tried on points despite the domination of the beginning of the season by the driver from Team Pussier Automobiles by Clairet Sport.

QUOTE, UNQUOTE

Teddy CLAIRET –PUSSIER AUTOMOBILES BY CLAIRET SPORT driver
Current championship leader & 1st Junior
“Barcelona is going to be an important moment of the season. It is necessary to remain concentrated and I have to collect the maximum number of points to arrive at Paul Ricard with as much of a lead as possible on Julien Briché for the finale at Le Castellet. I know the track, but there will still be a lot of work during free practice to adjust the balance of the car. Our team is still shocked by the loss of our friend and team manager André Bourdon but we have worked hard to be the best performers in Spain. Our motivation is even stronger, we have to win this title for André”

Julien BRICHÉ –JSB COMPÉTITION driver
Defending champion & 2nd in overall classification 2018
“Magny-Cours allowed us to come back on Teddy in the championship but we are moving race by race. I count on my clients to make the colours of JSB Competition shine in view of everyone’s performances at Magny-Cours.”

Lilou WADOUX –JSB COMPÉTITION driver
3rd in the 208 Racing Cup in Rencontres Peugeot Sport (6 overall podiums this season)
“So far I have focused on the 208 Racing Cup, in which I now have 6 overall podium finishes. Although I still have to continue my apprenticeship, I wanted to taste the performance of the 308 Racing Cup and measure myself against the drivers in the higher category. This challenge is not going to be easy, the level is high. I made the decision to go to Barcelona at the last moment. I will have to discover the track and the car on Friday in free practice but I am ultra motivated, I want to show what I can do! I thank all the team at JSB Competition, Florian and Julien for their coaching and for all the trust they give me. They support me since my debut in motor racing, I can not disappoint them!”

Jimmy CLAIRET – PUSSIER AUTOMOBILES BY CLAIRET SPORT driver
3rd in the 308 Racing Cup
"Despite a slightly complicated start to the season, I'm in 3rd place overall before Barcelona, which is not bad! The goal is to carry Pussier Automobiles by Clairet Sport high and I am 100% dedicated to help Teddy win the 2018 title! "

David POUGET –GPA RACING driver
4rd in the 308 Racing Cup
"Until now we were lacking speed, and I could not fight on equal terms with Julien (Briché), Teddy & Jimmy (Clairet). It's frustrating but it's like that. They found the little trick that makes the difference in performance. We have worked a lot on the set up of the car since Magny-Cours, and I know the layout of Barcelona. I intend to score maximum points to be on the final podium in the General Classification. "
