308 RACING CUP Round #6/6, Paul Ricard (France) | 13-14 October 2018

This weekend, the PEUGEOT 308 RACING CUP meets at the Paul Ricard circuit in the south of France for the grand finale to the 2018 season. With an average of 19 cars on the grid this year, Peugeot Sport’s leading promotional formula on circuits is ready to put on a spectacular show at the home of the French Grand Prix. The fight for the title is extremely close: just 18 points separate the leaders. Teddy Clairet – the recently-crowned Junior champion – is also leading the overall classification, ahead of reigning champion Julien Briché. The Gentlemen and Team titles are also up for grabs.

  • The Paul Ricard circuit will provide another opportunity for the 308 RACING CUP to display its exciting sporting credentials. On this type of track, the car demonstrates impressive stability on the fast parts of the circuit and the power of the engine means that it’s extremely driveable. The 308’s ability to negotiate the chicanes is a big plus as well. It’s the ideal weapon with which to tackle the demanding Paul Ricard track!

  • After starting the season as the undisputed leader, Teddy Clairet (#20 - Pussier Automobiles by Clairet Sport) now has to maintain the championship lead in the face of considerable pressure from Julien Briché (#4 - JSB Compétition) since the championship resumed in September. The title could be mathematically wrapped up after the first race of the weekend if Clairet wins. This would give him a margin of 23 points, against 22 points for a win, complete with fastest lap and pole position.

  • Making an impression in Barcelona in her 1st participation in the series, talented 17 year-old Lilou Wadoux (#99 - JSB Compétition) – finished in the top 10 twice. With this great achievement, she proved that she could hold her own among a field of experienced drivers.

  • In the FIA WTCR last weekend at the Wuhan circuit in China, the PEUGEOT 308 TCR showed once again that it was right in the thick of the fight thanks to a great 2nd place from Aurelien Comte (DG SPORT) in race 2, following an intense battle for the win that went down to the very last lap.

  • So who out of Teddy CLAIRET of Julien BRICHE will take the wheel of a 308 TCR in 2019 as a PEUGEOT SPORT factory driver? We’ll find out very soon…

WHAT THEY SAID

Teddy CLAIRET – PUSSIER AUTOMOBILES BY CLAIRET SPORT driver
Championship leader and newly-crowned Junior champion
“There’s not been a lot of time between Barcelona and Paul Ricard – just 15 days – but we’ve still been able to work hard to arrive at Le Castellet as well-prepared as possible. I’m leading the championship but I can’t take anything for granted. I’m going to stay concentrated and give it everything as I hunt down the title. Winning Saturday’s race would guarantee the championship for me, but I don’t want to think about that now…”

Lilou WADOUX – JSB COMPÉTITION driver
4th overall in the 208 Racing Cup classification
“ I’m so happy to be able to drive the 308 RACING CUP car again, especially in the final at Le Castellet! The goal is to gain experience in this extremely competitive formula, against extremely tough opposition. I don’t know the track at all: I’ve done some preparation in a simulator to learn it, but nothing beats real life experience, so we’ll have to wait and see what my real level of performance is this weekend. I also need to stay concentrated on the penultimate round of the 208 RACING CUP that takes place next weekend at Ledenon. I’m aiming for 3rd place overall and there are still 2 rounds to go.”

Aurélien COMTE – DG SPORT / FIA WTCR driver
PEUGEOT Sport driver: Peugeot 308 TCR in the FIA WTCR (Team DG Sport) / 2nd in race 2 in WUHAN (CHINA)
“The conclusion from this season, even though there are still 2 rounds to go, is really positive for my initial year in the PEUGEOT 308 TCR. I’ve been on the podium 4 times with 1 victory and three 2nd places, against drivers and teams that are well-known for being benchmarks in world touring cars ! The start to our season was more of a mixed bag, which explains our championship position. The technical team continues their work on the car and the evolutions for 2019. The end of the season in Japan and Macau is going to be really exciting. I’m also looking forward to following the final of the 308 RACING CUP at Le Castellet, to see who’s going to come out on top at the end of this amazing season.
