Timmy HANSEN (2nd)
PEUGEOT 208 WRX Evo #21
“This was only the 2nd time that we were driving this car after introducing it in Sweden & I have to say I was much more comfortable with it here this weekend; we did some good work at the test in Riga, so I felt a lot more confident. We had a good weekend generally but during the final I didn’t make a perfect start. Despite that, we still managed to end up 2nd out of the first corner. After that I didn’t want to take any big risks, because it’s been a while since we’ve been on the podium. I really didn’t want to have a puncture or anything, so through Turn 5 I was really safe every lap! We got through the race well & I don’t think Johan, who won, managed to pull out too big a gap in front of us so we can see that this new car is starting to get faster. We’ve still got a lot of work to do and it’s only going to move forwards from here.”

Sébastien Loeb (3rd)
PEUGEOT 208 WRX Evo #9
“For me it was an up & down weekend, as is often the case in rallycross. We had a perfect day on Saturday but today wasn’t as good: this morning I had a contact with Mattias Ekstrom & then in the semi-final I made a mistake, which was my fault & that meant that I was starting the final on the 3rd row – which is never easy. Still, to start on the 3rd row & then end up on the podium is not bad, so in the end I am happy about this team result & to share the podium with Timmy. We’ve carried out plenty of evolutions on this car & the progress is clear to see: we’re fighting against the top factory cars now & we've made up some positions in the championships. So it’s been a very nice battle all weekend and I’m happy to be on the podium at the end of it”

Kevin Hansen (DNF)
PEUGEOT 208 WRX #71
“I had a really good start in the semi-final, I was almost 1st down to Turn 1, but then I tried to get through on the outside & I got stuck there: it’s not easy! So I was bumped down & then I jokered & came back into the middle of another big fight, where I was starting to make some progress. Unfortunately on the next lap my car began to slow down with a problem & then I had to stop, so it was game over. The main thing is that in the end we have 2 PEUGEOT on the podium, which makes me very happy: I think we have a team spirit like nobody else. For Loheac, our aim is to have 3 cars on the podium! From my point of view I’m very happy with my driving: I’m growing in confidence all the time & my feeling with the car is great.”

AFTER QUALIFYING 4

Sébastien Loeb (2nd)
PEUGEOT 208 WRX Evo #9
“The session wasn’t a good one for us, unfortunately. Mattias Ekstrom made a better start than me, which was fair enough, but then from the 2nd lap I had a mechanical issue & lost some boost. This made it difficult to keep up & take the speed through the corners. I was down on performance, although I tried my best to deal with it. At the beginning of the session, the surface was quite damp as well, but then it dried up for the others, which wasn’t good news for me either. After a good day yesterday, we certainly weren't expecting to lose the lead after Qualifying, but there's more to come & we are keeping our heads up!’’

Timmy HANSEN (4th)
PEUGEOT 208 WRX Evo #21
“I'm happy: we went from 4th up to 2nd – nearly 1st – by the end of the 1st corner & then we had a good run to the end behind Johan Kristofferson. We also set another fastest lap, so the speed is there & I'm happy with the 208 WRX Evo: we're not going to touch it now & just keep it as it is for the semi-final. We've made a big jump up in the overall classification, so it means that we start our next race on the front row. I'm feeling confident."

Kevin Hansen (8th)
PEUGEOT 208 WRX #71
“I'm a little bit confused by that session: I was struggling for pace a bit everywhere but I'm not really sure why. The car & the track felt good, but we just didn't have the pace. So now we have to look at everything carefully before the semi-final & hopefully we can find a solution.”

AFTER QUALIFYING 3

Sébastien Loeb (1st)
PEUGEOT 208 WRX Evo #9
“It didn't go as well as the first 2 Qualifying sessions. I was on the pace until Ekström tried to go down the inside of me after the Joker Lap & in the end we both ended up going off. I was classified 12th, which isn't great as it doesn't bring you a lot of points. But we've still hung onto 1st place overall, although it's beginning to get very close. We need to have a strong Q4 to get back on track.”

Timmy HANSEN (3rd)
PEUGEOT 208 WRX Evo #21
“I had a good run & made my way up to 2nd at the finish, having been down in 5th after the start. Unfortunately, that was partly at the cost of Sebastien, so that was a shame for him. But from my point of view I had a good run & made the best lap time, which was very positive. We've got a lot of speed but there's a lot depending on Quali 4 now: it's very tight among everyone, which is exciting.”

Kevin Hansen (7th)
PEUGEOT 208 WRX #71
“It was good one! I’m sweating! I did a very good start, I was maybe a bit hard on the launch, but I managed to get out 1st. Then I did 4 good laps that were clean despite some small mistakes here and there, but it was very nice and I enjoyed my race. Seeing myself in P3 feels good!"

AFTER QUALIFYING 2

Sébastien LOEB (1st)
PEUGEOT 208 WRX Evo #9
“We had a good day overall, with 2 good qualifying heats where we were leading & I think the engineers have improved the car a lot. At our test recently in Riga we found a useful set-up & I was hoping that it would work well here. I think that’s the case, as we’ve shown that we’re in the fight! We made a very good start in both our races today & from there we were able to keep up a solid rhythm from start to finish even though the guys behind were pushing hard. So it's definitely a positive beginning for us in Canada.”

Timmy HANSEN (4th)
PEUGEOT 208 WRX Evo #21
“I had a bad start in Q2 & I was actually last off the line but the good engine of the PEUGEOT 208 WRX Evo helped me to recover & I was back up to 2nd coming out of turn 1. I was a little bit held up so that put us 5th quickest in Q2 and 4th overall overnight. It was an OK day, but I feel it could have been better. In any case, it's not bad so let's see what tomorrow brings.”

Kevin Hansen (5th)
PEUGEOT 208 WRX #71
“I'm pretty happy with how we're placed overnight & it's a very good result for the team. From my point of view I struggled a little bit at the start in Q2, but it was nothing too serious & that set me back slightly for the rest of the race, although we had a good joker lap that helped me make up a position. Overall, it's been a good 1st day so now I'm looking forward to tomorrow. There's definitely more to come.”

AFTER QUALIFYING 1

Sébastien Loeb (1st)
PEUGEOT 208 WRX Evo #9
“It wasn't easy as all 3 of us were next to each other at the start grid, so obviously we didn't want to attack each other, but in the end it all went well. Before the start we more or less knew what we were each going to do, but it's always easy to make a mistake when you're going so close to each other at 200kph at the end of the straight! Timmy made a small mistake at the start & I made the most of that opportunity. Afterwards, it was just a good trouble-free run for me without any mistakes. I'm P1 at the moment, so that's great & we just need to carry this forwards.”

Kevin Hansen (5th)
PEUGEOT 208 WRX #71
“It was a really fun race; I got off to a good start and was alongside the other two guys but then, I think that the PEUGEOT 208 WRX Evo just had a bit of an advantage on the straight. I was still able to attack into the 1st corners though and then when Timmy made a small mistake I managed to get in front of him. There was quite a lot of dust behind Seb & the track was quite rough, so it wasn’t easy. But I was still able to push hard & enjoy myself with the car: it’s so fast here! We’ve got off to a good beginning to the weekend, so the goal is to carry on like this now.”

Timmy HANSEN (6th)
PEUGEOT 208 WRX Evo #21
“I had a really good start & I felt good with the car, but I made a mistake going into the 2nd corner: I just braked too late, the car went wide, and then I hit the wall – but it's easily done as the walls are so close everywhere on this circuit. Luckily, there was no real damage & my 208 still felt fine afterwards: it’s obviously a strong car! I also had some problems with the dust & the holes: there’s not much you can do about that. But we’re 6th overall now and on pole position for the next race, so it’s been a solid start that gives us the possibility to move forwards.”
