DRIVER QUOTES AFTER CAPE TOWN RX

Sébastien LOEB, PEUGEOT 208 WRX Evo #9 – 3rd in Cape Town, 4th overall in the 2018 championship
"The car was good here, very fast, but we already proved that all over the year. We've been working hard on this program, made those significant changes on the PEUGEOT 208 WRX at mid-season & I think, for a 1st official season, we managed to put in a strong performance. In this last race, we've been again very competitive, in the fight from start to finish. It was a good weekend & 3rd overall is a good result, knowing that everything is always so linked to that 1st corner. And it was messy again in the final. I am honestly happy about today & about the season. One only victory this year is still a victory! I don’t know what I'll do next year: for sure it wasn't great news coming from PEUGEOT about the end of the program. I'd like to thank the team for all the work & great moments this year. Now as far as I am concerned, I'll find other challenges, probably as a privateer. The next thing for me is Rally Dakar & we'll see what comes next."

Timmy Hansen, PEUGEOT 208 WRX Evo #21 – 6th in Cape Town, 6th overall in the 2018 championship
''The weekend in Cape Town went relatively well. We've shown strong pace in each of the heats but unfortunately we weren't very lucky in the final: coming out of the dust, Peter Solberg did a spin, I hit him & that broke my triangle. Looking at the PEUGEOT adventure, it’s been 5 five years with the team for me, so it’s very emotional now when it’s ending. I am proud with what we've done, I am happy for what they've being giving to me through the years. We have some fantastic memories. I am proud of everything we achieved. It has been a good season this year again. I am happy with the overall result, happy for meeting the guys at PEUGEOT Sport, for sharing this journey with them. It’s difficult for me to speak, my voice is shaking. I just want to make sure that everyone knows that it's been very positive for me.''

Kevin Hansen, PEUGEOT 208 WRX #71 – 4th in Cape Town, 8th overall in the 2018 championship
''It was amazing to get once again to the final! I was so pleased to put the car in the final for my crew & it was actually the main goal for every race weekend. I was in the fight for the podium again but of course, I was hoping for a 3rd place. Finishing with a 4th place is still nice, as I confirm again my best score this season. You learn a lot as a factory driver when you're 20! I will take all this experience to grow. I think I needed that to prepare myself to be World Champion as soon as possible. It’s so emotional after this race: all the people working in this team are amazing & I am so thankful. Merci à tous.''

DRIVER QUOTES AFTER QUALI 4

Sebastien LOEB (2nd overall after Qualifying) - PEUGEOT 208 WRX Evo #9
"It was super close, but we knew before the start that if Johan would be ahead, it would probably win Q4. He had the pole position & I didn't manage to pass him at the start. I was following, trying to do a strategy with the joker. It was a good strategy, there's nothing to complain about. Johan was just a little faster again & he won. I feel confident for this afternoon. I'm in pole position in Semi-Final 2, which is pretty good, so I'll try to use it as well as possible to keep the 1st position in the 1st corner. That’s the plan."

Timmy HANSEN (3rd overall after Qualifying) - PEUGEOT 208 WRX #21
"It was a tough race! The speed was good this time, even if the result could have been slightly better, I guess. It was a hard battle to Turn 1. I got squeezed in-between Seb Loeb & Peter Solberg because they were both in front of me & they turned at the same time. All of us survived in the end & I came up 4th after the start, putting in my best lap so far this weekend! I think this was 100% what I could do. When I was chasing Johan & Seb, we were quite far in front & very fast, that’s great. 3rd place in the intermediate means front row for Semi-Final & there's still a card to play with the tyres."

Kevin HANSEN (7th overall after Qualifying) - PEUGEOT 208 WRX #71
"It was nice! We found some more pace in the end, some more confidence in the car, which is very good as we head into the Semi-Finals. I was very happy about Q4. Now we start P4 in the semi-final: it's going to be a challenge from the outside but I'm optimistic. It's the last race of the season & I really want to finish on a high note."

DRIVER QUOTES AFTER QUALI 3

Sebastien LOEB (2nd in Q3) - PEUGEOT 208 WRX Evo #9
"It was a good race! It was important to take a good start in order not to be stuck by the other cars & I managed to do it so I was leading in the 1st corner. From that point, all I had to do was to push. We used new tyres with the objective to make a good result in Q3, secure a good position for Q4 & score big points. And that's what we did at the end! At the moment it’s looking good, I will start 2nd on the grid in Q4. Kristoffersson, in the inside, will not be easy to beat but we'll fight hard!"

Timmy HANSEN (3rd in Q3) - PEUGEOT 208 WRX #21
“3rd is a good result but I hate when someone else is faster... I was behind Johan & he was pulling a big gap. The good side of things is that he had new tyres & I had used ones. We know that our car is very strong when we put new tyres on so we still have this card to play. We are still in the fight to end up in pole position for the semi-final & the fight is very close. Everything is still to play for in Q4!"

Kevin HANSEN (7th in Q3) - PEUGEOT 208 WRX #71
"I was able to exit 2nd after the launch, then I had an OK run. I saw that Sebastien had some different lines so I tried to see if I could go a bit more toward his way, to be a bit faster. As I was behind, it was good to look at him. It’s tricky to keep up with the competitors in front, they are a step ahead. But 7th in Q3 & 7th overall is good, it’s where I'm currently able to be. I will try to find a bit more in Q4 & secure 7th position overall before the Semi-finals. If possible, I'll even try to climb to 6th."

DRIVER QUOTES AFTER DAY 1

Sebastien LOEB (1st overall after Day 1) - PEUGEOT 208 WRX Evo #9
"The 2nd heat was OK. I didn’t have the best start, whilst Peter Solberg had a magic launch and took the lead right in the 1st corner. I struggled a bit in the traffic and then I was in the dust. Overall I'm still in the lead, so I can say it’s a good 1st day. We're in the fight! Let’s see what tomorrow will bring, it’s still very close in-between all the teams, we will keep pushing hard and put a big focus on the start procedure."

Timmy HANSEN (3rd overall after Day 1) - PEUGEOT 208 WRX #21
“Our car is working well. It was nice to line up P1 and P2 in Quali 2. We had a very good strategy together of how to exit 1 and 2 but with Peter Solberg's magic launch, it didn't quite work out & we had to improvise into Turn 1. I think we made a quite good run but I must say it was quite difficult in the dust. This track is special, it's a real challenge with the dust and the loose gravel in some parts that makes it really changing lap by lap. We often say in rallycross that it's always different but here, there can be quite big differences from lap to lap. Overall, it's been a nice Saturday and we have a big day tomorrow."

Kevin HANSEN (7th overall after Day 1) - PEUGEOT 208 WRX #71
"I think it was quite safe to be 2nd in my race. I didn't have the best launch and then I had a bit of an engine lag at the exit of Turn 1, which left a gap for Marklund to get in front, which was a shame. I think it was a good call to go in the joker on the 1st lap and we did it clean. I didn't quite get Marklund in the end, it was a bit frustrating but it's like this. Overall I had good runs and a few unfortunate points today so I need to speed up the game for tomorrow."

DRIVER QUOTES AFTER QUALI 1

Sebastien LOEB (1st) - PEUGEOT 208 WRX Evo #9
“We took a good start and I managed to be in the lead at the 1st corner. It’s a circuit that suits our car well. It takes nothing else than having the pole on the grid, a good launch, the pole at the end of the start section and then a clean run to get a good result. In Q2 I will start in pole again, but with Timmy on the side and then Solberg and Bakkerud, so it’s going to be more complicated.’’

Timmy HANSEN (2nd)  - PEUGEOT 208 WRX #21
“It was a good launch, nice to be in front, nice to drive alone. I'm enjoying this track! I had a good run and Seb managed to be in front by just two hundreds of a second - it's so tiny! But I prefer to be beaten by my teammate than by anybody else. I did make a mistake in the joker, I braked too late there, so I can probably catch some time somewhere in the next session."

Kevin HANSEN (7th) - PEUGEOT 208 WRX #71
"It was a good race, maybe a bit messy in Turn 1. I managed to get out 3rd, then just missed a little bit of speed. But it's a good start and a good base for the weekend. Q2 should be a bit easier in the launch as I'll be P2 on the start line. It's less people to keep control of than to start in P3. So we'll try to get a better start, a better departure off the line and then maybe the run could be easier."
